- TERMS OF COURT - Terms begin on the 3rd Monday of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Criminal Docket: 9:30 a.m. Civil Docket: 11:00 a.m.
- GRAND JURY - Convenes on the first day of each term.
- CASE SCHEDULING - Criminal and civil cases set on Term Date in court, or by praecipe on Term Day.
- MOTION DAY - Held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month; Criminal cases: 9:00 a.m. and Civil cases: 1:30 p.m.
- CRIMINAL CASE communications can be made by Regular mail, Secure Remote Access (SRA), Interoffice mailboxes, Email (SCRAM orders), Fax (psychological evaluation orders only)
- CRIMINAL COURT COSTS AND RESTITUTION can be paid online at https://eapps.courts.state.va.us/fmsOnline/#/?fips=000C
- CHANCERY MATTERS - Commissioners in Chancery may be utilized in some contested cases.
- CIVIL CASE SCHEDULING RULES - Cannot be scheduled within 15 days prior to the start of a Term; If already within that window, the case will be set for the next available Term
- EXCEPTIONS TO CIVIL CASE SCHEDULING (earliest available Term allowed) - Appeals of protective orders, Unlawful detainer actions, Custody or visitation matters
- CIVIL CASE communication can be made by Regular mail, Interoffice mailboxes
- DEED RECORDING - Available: in person, by mail, or e-recording, Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, excluding court closures, see https://www.vacourts.gov/static/news/items/court_closings.pdf; Electronic submission is encouraged, for more information contact: (540) 727-3438 or visit the local court website at https://web.culpepercounty.gov/circuit.
- FILING POLICY - No filings accepted by fax, Emergency filings (or court date within 5 days) can be emailed to [email protected]. Do not abuse email filing; Do not send duplicate originals if documents were emailed; Originals should be mailed or hand-delivered in advance.
